Butch and Duke on the Madison Area Music Awards

Duke Erikson attended the Madison Area Music Awards (MAMA), this Saturday (March 18th), and Butch Vig made a video presentation.

The third annual edition of these awards were held at the UW Memorial Union Theatre, and the show started with Gomers performing the MAMAs theme, after which John Urban of Urban Theater introduces a video clip from Butch Vig, who gives “a big shout out to all the winners and all the nominees at the MAMAs tonight,” and introduces his new baby from a home studio in California.

The last MAMA award of the night is presented by Duke Erikson, a Madison music godfather renowned for his work in Spooner and Garbage, among more. Erikson asks the audience to give a round of applause for the MAMAs, which is roundly given, before introducing the nominees for Best Pop Artists. The winner is The Profits, a big and growing bigger name who like many of the night’s winners are out and about somewhere. Erikson accepts it on their behalf.
