New album round-up part 2

So a few months back now we posted a round up of the current state of play with the new Garbage album and we promised an update, well here it is…

Title & release date:
The title of the album is still not known, the release date is also unknown, however April or May has been suggested on Facebook by Shirley.

When will it be finished?
Butch confirmed last week that the album is finished following a week of mastering.

What does it sound like?
Again no one knows for sure apart from the select few who have been lucky to hear it, from interviews the general feedback is that it sounds like the debut more than any other album. This pleases me a lot.

Whatever it sounds like the guys have been making some pretty cool sounds of late, don’t believe me then check out this compilation of videos which the band have uploaded during the recording process.

Track listing?
The band have said that the album will feature 11 tracks, however a more recent interview with Mojo suggests 12, either way we aren’t being short changed. The exact track titles and order are currently unconfirmed. The titles that have been mentioned by the band are:

  • Alone
  • Animal
  • Automatic Systematic Habit
  • Beloved Freak
  • Big Brite World
  • Blood For Poppies
  • Choose Your Weapon
  • Control
  • Electro
  • Felt
  • I Hate Love
  • Lies, Lies, Lies
  • Not Your Kind Of People
  • Sugar
  • T.R.O.U.B.L.E
  • Time Will Destroy Everything

There are also a few other track titles floating around on forums and websites such as Angel On My Shoulder, Cold Again, Deep and Guilty. None of these have been mentioned by the band.

What about that cover song they did…
The bands excellent cover of U2, Who’s Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses will most likely not be included but you may see it on early releases in Japan so be sure to check out the Garbage Discography around the time of the release for up to date information on that.

Any news on the singles?
Previously we were potentially looking at a new single in or around January. This I can’t see happening as you would have expected to have heard a couple of things such as the name of the single and potentially early promotional material leaking out. None of this has happened to date, most likely due to the band still sorting out their labels. It wouldn’t shock me if they don’t issue a single until March 2012.

Will they tour in 2012
Garbage will be touring in 2012, no dates have been confirmed as yet but they have confirmed that they are booking shows.

And on what label?
The band have signed with Liberator Music in Australia. They will most likely handle releases for New Zealand as well. They do have operations overseas so expect them to be involved elsewhere as well.
