Eric Avery to join NIN
Eric Avery is set to end his touring duties with Garbage at the end of the forthcoming North American tour. He will then join up with Trent Reznor’s Nine Inch Nails.
The news was broke via Trent Reznor exclusive interview with Pitchfork.
Eric has been touring with Garbage since 2005 when he took over from Daniel Shulman. Garbage have not confirmed who if anyone will take over on bass following his departure.
They currently have no dates confirmed after the North American tour but they have stated in recent interviews they plan to return to Europe in the Summer for the festival circuit.
A message on the official Garbage site reads;
By now we’re sure you’ve heard that Mr. Eric Avery has been invited to join ranks with NIN on their recently announced world tour, and will therefore be leaving us as our resident touring bass player at the end of our upcoming North American dates. As sad as we are to see Eric go, we are all incredibly excited for him. We think the world of NIN and we think the world of Eric.
In the mean time if you bump into Eric at any shows make sure you thank him as Garbage fans the world over have been truly blessed by a rock legend on this tour and during the Bleed Like Me era. I wish him all the best in this exciting project which will be a truly amazing experience for him.
