Madison celebrate Garbage Day
To celebrate the band returning home to Madison the City of Madison has made an official announcement and declared the day Garbage Day
The following document made Garbage Day official.
WHEREAS, Garbage was formed in 1994 in Madison; and
WHEREAS, the member of Garbage are Duke Erikson, Shirley Mason, Stever Marker, and Butch Vig; and
WHEREAS, Garbage recorded their albums at Smart Studios in Madison; and
WHEREAS, Garbage, its members and Smart Studios are important Madison cultural institutions and Madison’s calling card to the popular music word; and
WHEREAS, Garbage has not performed a live concert in Madison since 2005; and
WHEREAS, the Madison Mallards, Last Coast Producing and Majestic Live have created an event called Pondamonium to bring Madison’s most popular musical product, Garbage, back to Madison for a live concert at the “Duck Pond” at Warner Park on August 9, 2012;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that in honor of the deep cultural impact the band has made on the City of Madison, Wisconsin the Mayor and Common Council proclaim August 9th, 2012 as Garbage Day.
